Hamilton Southeastern Schools values the health and safety of all of our staff and students, therefore, a full-time registered nurse serves each school building. The role of the school nurse is to care for students who have been injured or become ill during the school day as well as to facilitate care of students with acute or chronic health conditions. If you have specific questions about your child or his/her health matters, please feel free to contact your building nurse.
The School Nurse is responsible for:
- Administration of medications
- Management of medical conditions that occur during the school day including, but not limited to asthma, severe allergies, diabetes, and seizures
- Assessment, care and treatment of minor illnesses and injury that may occur during the school day
- Health Counseling
- Prevention and Control of communicable diseases
- Monitoring immunizations for each student as required by the State of Indiana
- Health screening for students including vision
You can also reference our District Health Services page for more information.
If you have questions that are not included on our District Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, please contact your building nurse for assistance.
Meet the Hamilton Southeastern High School Nursing Team!
I’m a Royals mom of four, I have two at Hamilton Southeastern High School and two at IU. I’m usually at sporting events for my kids.
I have three kids, one at the high school, one junior, and one in elementary school. My kids also are involved in lots of sports, I have cross country runners and soccer players. I love to run, do yoga, and cook. I grew up in California and lived in Boston for a while when I went to nursing school and lived in Indiana for 15 years.
I’ve been at HSE for the last three years. Before that, I’m also an ER nurse so two different things for me. In our free time, my husband and I are fairly active. We like to hike, travel quite a bit, we’re huge Disney fans so we go to Disney at least twice a year, and on our weekends, we spend time with our dogs.
For 21 years I have been one of the nurses at Hamilton Southeastern High School. I graduated from nursing school in 1990 so I have been an RN for 31 years. I love working and caring for kids. In my spare time I love to read, watch movies, and be outdoors doing anything. I love the ocean and the sunshine.
