Hamilton County Youth Service Award

Hamilton County Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs Council will again honor seven seniors. One from each of the seven high schools in Hamilton County. One senior from among the seven will win $1000! For more information and to apply, go to the Scholarship tab in Naviance. The scholarship is the Youth Service Award. The deadline is April 13.

FBI Youth Leadership Academy Indianapolis Field Office 2020

The FBI's Youth Leadership Academy is designed to promote an educational experience that will provide students with valuable leadership training and a greater understanding of the FBI. Through experiential learning activities, students will develop skills in communication, trust, team work, goal setting and leadership. For more information please visit "Enrichment Programs" under the College tab in Naviance or speak to Mrs. Jones in the Guidance Office. Deadline is April 1, 2020.

Need Service Hours?

Do you want to give back to the community and help people in need, while building college applications & resumes, and getting service hours for clubs & graduation requirements? Then come volunteer at the Third Phase food pantry on February 29th from 10am-12pm or 12pm-2pm. This is a work day set up by the Sophomore Class Officers. Sign up by scanning the QR code on flyers around the school OR on your class Canvas page. ALL are welcome to participate!

Attention: all students taking Spanish 3 or higher

If you are taking Spanish 3 or higher this year, and are planning to take Spanish next year, please apply to be in the Spanish Honorary! See your current Spanish teacher for an application! It's a great resume builder, and you can earn honor cords for graduation!! ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE TURNED IN TO MS. GUNDERSON BY MARCH 5TH.

International Night Auditions

The World Connections Club is looking for cultural entertainment for International Night 2020! Whether you Sing, Dance, or Play a musical instrument, all teachers and students are invited to share their cultural heritage! International Night Auditions will be Thursday, March 5th in the Little Theatre beginning at 3:15pm. See Mrs. Lazaga in A112 for details or more information.

Carnaval for Puerto Rico

The Latino Student Union is hosting a Carnaval Party for Puerto Rico on Tuesday, February 25th from 3:00-4:30 in Cafe D. Food! Fun! Games! Music and Latin Dancing! Cost is $5.00. All proceeds will go to help recent earthquake victims in Puerto Rico! Come to the Carnaval this Tuesday after school for a great time and to show your support for Puerto Rico! See you there!

Royal Project Runway meeting

Models for Royal Project Runway: there is a model meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 26th, at 7:00 a.m. in A122 at which all details of the show will be discussed. Donuts will be served! Please be there!

Friday's are "for the Kids"

This Friday is our last "Friday's are For the Kids" where we feature one of our own Riley kids! Watch the video on Thursday and show your support for our Riley kids by contributing to one of the 10 RDM members carrying buckets on Friday!

Wabash College - OLAB Summer Program

OLAB is a one-week hands-on introduction to business and the market economy for young women and men entering their senior year in high school. For more information, please visit their website at www.wabash.edu/olab. Deadline is April 17, 2020

Carleton College Summer Enrichment Program

The Carleton Liberal Arts Experience is a FREE week-long summer academic program for high school students. Students live on campus dorms for the week. Recent course offerings: DNA Fingerprinting The Science of Forensics The African American Experience Religion and the Black Freedom Struggle Motown and American Culture Schooling, Opportunity, & Identities in the U.S. The Achievement Gap Information can be found in Naviance under College Enrichment Programs.

SAT Prep Class

The new SAT prep class is being held the last 2 weeks of April. The class will help students prepare for the May, June, and August SAT. Applications are on the main page of the HS website along with hard copies in the guidance office. Only the first 50 students that turn in their applications to guidance will be accepted.

Sophomores - It's not too late to apply for Finance Academy

Do you have an interest in business and want to learn more through specialized course work? Do you love to travel and want to learn about finance in Chicago and New York City? Are you interested in having a professional mentor, completing an internship, and having access to exclusive dual credit courses? It is not too late to apply for Finance Academy! Applications are available in guidance and are due Friday, February 28.

Uniform Application for Community Scholarships OPEN!

For HSEHS and FHS Senior Students Only! Please visit www.hsefoundation.org to view and apply to the 2019-2020 community scholarships. This site allows students to use one uniform online application to apply for as any of the scholarships listed! Deadline March 18, 2020!!

Regions is proud to celebrate Black History Month

Students could earn a $5,000 college scholarship! A 500 word or less essay is required addressing how an African-American has been an inspiration in your life. For more information, go to https://www.regions.com/promo/black-history-scholarship.

Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA) $700 Scholarship

The applicant must be a child, grandchild, step-child or step-grandchild of an ISTA member. The applicant must be a graduating senior from a public high school. The applicant must have at least a ā€œCā€ average. The applicant does not have to attend the same school district where the ISTA member teachers and/or live in the same household. Indiana National Tooling and Machining Association Scholarship

Indiana National Tooling and Machining Association is offering a $10,000 scholarship with the deadline of February 28th.The updated information is on Naviance under Scholarships. Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA) Scholarships

There are NEW scholarships offered through ISTA! Information is on Naviance under the scholarship tab. The scholarships can be found under ISTA. Some of the deadlines are March 1st! So don't delay, check them out!

Butler University Black Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship

Any student intending to pursue a degree at Butler University must meet the following criteria: The applicant must attend Butler University as a full-time student, demonstrate financial need, and exemplify identification with and commitment to the African-American community. Preference shall be given to African American students. Naviance has the link to the application.

AABE Scholarship

To be eligible for the AABE Scholarship, applicants must have an overall "B" academic average and a "B" average in mathematics and science courses, be a graduating senior who has applied to one or more accredited colleges/universities, plan to major in business, engineering, technology, mathematics or physical science fields, demonstrate financial need and be a member of one of the underrepresented minority groups in the sciences and related areas of technology. Win an a Scholarship to camp in CA this summer

The Craig Tufts Educational Scholarship grants an award to one youth to attend a week-long summer outdoor educational adventure camp at Family Nature Summits. The fund provides travel, room and board, and program fees for the award winner and an accompanying parent or guardian. For more information/apply go to the "Enrichment" tab in Naviance.

Lifeline

Lifeline club will be meeting in Cafe D on Monday during Smart Period. Join them to learn more about the opioid crisis and how we can educate ourselves to rise above this epidemic and solve it.

Eco Club Eco Bricks

Are you interested in a more sustainable Earth? Come make Eco Bricks with the Royal Eco Club next Tuesday after school in J205.These are building blocks made from plastics and bottles that are used to create things like buildings, chairs, and more! See you there!

GSA Meeting

GSA will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, March 2 during SMaRT. They have a guest speaker from IUPUI discussing LGBTQ history. They hope to see you there.

Speech and Debate Fundraiser

The Speech and Debate team will be selling suckers at all lunches until March 6th in an effort to raise money for their district and national tournaments. Each sucker is $2 and there are a variety of flavors, so stop by their table to check it out and support the team! Thank you!

AMS Forsenics Night

Aspiring Medical Students (AMS) is hosting forensics night on Wednesday February 26th at 3:30 pm in Cafe D. Come have fun solving medical mysteries. Cost is FREE for members and $5 for nonmembers.
