General School News

Senior Portraits with Prestige

Seniors: the deadline to sit for your senior portrait with Prestige will be here before you know it. All seniors who wish to be included in the yearbook MUST schedule a sitting with Prestige Portraits BEFORE Fall Break. Spots are limited, so be sure to schedule yours today. For more information, visit the "Happenings" tab on the HSE High School website and choose "In the News."

Spanish Honorary

There will be a brief informational meeting for Spanish Honorary members in Ms. Gunderson's room, A108, at 3:05 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27th. This meeting should be attended by ALL Spanish Honorary members, not just those inducted last April.

SAT Class

Students who want to improve SAT scores to better your chances of getting into the college of your choice, increase your financial aid or to become a possible National Merit Scholar, should come to the SAT class taught after school beginning Sept. 16. It is a two-week course packed full of strategies and practice tailored to those wishing to boost their score. Pick up an application in the Guidance Office or CCA Office. Spots will fill up quickly so turn your application in soon.

Robotics Club Callout Meeting

Students interested in competition or robotics should come to the Robotics Club callout meeting on Thursday, Aug. 29th in B165. No experience necessary. See Mr. Gish for additional information.

Academics/Guidance News

Alternative PE information

Freshmen, sophomore and junior Fall Sport athletes who would like to earn one PE credit for participating in your sport, sign up the Alternative PE class. The link to the electronic application can be located on the HSE website on the home page in the bottom right hand corner (it is listed in the Quick links section) or under "Happenings" "In the News" or go to Canvas. The application is now open and will close on Friday, September 13th at 3:00 pm. See your guidance counselor for questions.

Essay Workshop for Seniors

Class of 2020! If you would like help writing your college application essay, please sign up for the Essay Workshop which will be held on September 4th from 6-8:00 p.m. at the CCA Gathering Stairs. Pick up a registration form in the CCA office today. Space is limited.

College Visits

Colleges and Universities visiting HSE next week

Next week there are several colleges and Universities visiting HSE including, Grand Canyon University, Central Michigan, IUPUI, Wabash, Northwestern, Purdue, Hanover and Vincennes. If you would like to meet with any of these representatives, sign up on Naviance or in the CCA office with Mrs. Bright.

Club Information

Royal EcoClub Call-Out Meeting

Tree-Huggers and Lovers of the Earth! The Royal Eco Club will hosting their callout meeting on Thursday, August 29th at 7:00 a.m. and at 3:00 p.m., in J205. Information about upcoming club activities will be discussed and food will be provided.

Muslim Student Association (MSA) Callout Meeting

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) will be holding a callout meeting on August 27 in J205 from 3:05-3:40pm. They will be discussing all of the awesome things they do at HSE and snacks will be served. Come check out all that MSA has to offer.

GSA First Meeting

GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) has their first meeting of the year on Monday, August 26 during SMART in H125, the new choir room. Anyone may attend and all are welcome to hear their presenter, Taylor Dooley from IUPUI. She will be talking about LGBT college admissions, as well as admissions to IUPUI in general and other campuses.

Script Writing

Student who have and script, outline, or idea is encouraged to sign up at J107 to pitch your idea to the development team of Olio Road Productions for the chance at having your script become an actual feature film this year. Pitch dates are Aug 27 & 28.

Join Code for Change

If you want to learn more about coding and to use coding to help others, join the Code for Change Club. The callout meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 3-4:00 p.m. in B106. If you can't make it, see Mrs. Alano in B106 for details.

Project HOPE is having a call-out!

If you like helping others and want to make an impact on others in our school and our community then Project HOPE is the club for you! They will be having a callout Wednesday August 28th both before and after school in J206 at either 7:15 a.m. or 3:05 p.m.

Latino Student Union

The Latino Student Union callout meeting is Monday, Aug. 26th, in the Lecture Hall during SMART period. Students don't have to be latino to join! Come check out LSU!

World Connections Club

Come Friday, Aug. 30th from 3-4:00 p.m. to the LGI room for a sneak peak at the World Connections Club! It's the World Connections Club callout meeting! Food, Fun and more!

Project HOPE Club Callout

Project HOPE will be having a callout Wednesday, August 28th, at 7:10 a.m. and after 3:05 p.m. in J206. If unable to attend the callout, see Ms. Kulesavage in J206 for more information.

BSU Callout Meeting

Come join the Black Student Union at their callout meeting on Aug. 29th! Everyone of all cultures and backgrounds are welcome. There will be two callout meetings, one before school at 7:00 a.m. in J132 and one at 3:00 p.m. in the LGI!

Sports/Club Sports

Girls Lacrosse Player/Parent Callout Meeting

Anyone interested in playing girls lacrosse this Spring is encouraged to attend a callout meeting on August 27th at 7:00 p.m. in Cafe D. Parents are welcome to attend.

Boys Lacrosse Call Out

The boys lacrosse program will have a parent and player meeting on Tuesday, August 27 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Cafe B. for all returning and new athletes. They will discuss off-season workouts and take a look at the 2020 spring schedule.

Girls Track Callout Meeting

Any girl interested in participating in track and field this spring that is not currently in a fall sport should attend a callout meeting on Thursday, Aug. 29, from 3:00-3:30 in room B106. Questions see Coach Alano in B106

Basketball Cheerleading Callout Meeting

A callout meeting for girls interested in trying out for this year's basketball cheerleading squad will be held on Tuesday, August 27 at 6:30 p.m. and will cover details about tryouts and the upcoming season, as well as receive necessary paperwork. If you can’t attend the meeting but plan to tryout, please send an email to Coach Conner at aaconner1@gmail.com
